At Highlighters, we are proud supporters for the Standing Strong Program and license holders for the program for Manly West in Brisbane, Australia. Standing Strong is a unique program designed to educate, motivate and inspire young people to create lasting positive change in their lives.  Our mission is to help girls develop self-worth and resilience.

Standing Strong provides evidence-based programs designed to educate, motivate, and inspire children to really live to their true potential.

Designed by an experienced and dedicated team of health and wellness professionals, Standing Strong takes a holistic and non-clinical approach to wellbeing.

The programs have been developed utilising three core components of Strong Body – Movement, Strong Mind – Mindset and Strong Heart – Mindfulness.

Children learn how to improve their confidence and self-esteem, build inner-strength and self-belief, grow friendships, improve their health and body-image, manage stress and gain the tools essential for living happy, healthy and inspired lives.

Our unique classes encourage children to develop the mindsets and skills known to prevent social and health issues including depression, anxiety, stress, disconnection and lack of motivation and drive.

Through the support and accessibility of our ongoing programs, we create a community of support, resources and connection for girls and their families. Our aim is to help parents and carers who have a desire to raise strong, confident and resilient children and teens.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioural Studies, with major concentrations in Youth Issues, diploma in Holistic Counselling and qualifications in Health, Wellness, Training and Management, Kim Smith – Founder of Standing Strong, takes a holistic approach to helping children and parents navigate through the challenges and triumphs of growing up.

Kim knows what it takes to get through the tough times and has worked with hundreds of children, families, schools and community organisations.

She was awarded the Telstra Business Womens’ Award for Purpose & Social Enterprise WA in 2020 and has been endorsed by Oprah Winfrey for her work at Standing Strong. Kim is a regular contributor to Girlfriend and Dolly Magazines and has featured on The Today Show, Daily Telegraph, ABC Radio, The Western Times and more.

STRONG Little Ones is a supportive, gentle, interactive and fun program designed to help young children feel strong from the inside out.

Highlighters Strong Juniors

(8-9 years)

STRONG Juniors is a supportive, fun, interactive and uplifting program designed to help children feel resilient and empowered.

Strong Tweens

(10-12 years)

STRONG Tweens is an empowering, supportive and uplifting program designed to help young people build confidence and resilience.

Strong Teens

(13-15 years)

STRONG Teens is an empowering, supportive and uplifting program designed to help teenagers build confidence, self-esteem and resilience.


The STRENGTH FROM WITHIN Workshops are fun and interactive evidence-based programs designed for girls ages 5 - 15 years. These special one-day events are designed to help girls feel more positive within themselves, more confident about themselves and stronger from the inside out.
